Experience the Magic of Florida’s Largest Lighted Boat Parade
Imagine a crisp December evening along the Intracoastal Waterway, where vibrantly lit boats glide across the water. Sparkling holiday lights reflect in the gentle waves as cruisers, sailboats, and even kayaks pass by, each one decked out in festive decorations. If you’re staying at The Beach Front Motel this holiday season, don't miss the Palm Coast Holiday Boat Parade. This dazzling spectacle—the largest lighted boat parade in Florida—is a must-see! Taking place on Sunday, December 15, it’s the perfect way to experience Palm Coast’s holiday magic and join in on a beloved tradition dating back to 1984.
The parade begins at 6 p.m. when the sheriff’s boat, flashing its lights, leads the procession, setting off a river of brightly lit boats following closely behind. The lead boat, “Reel Freedom,” owned by Palm Coast resident Justin Wilmot, will carry the parade’s Grand Marshals, while over 100 boats—likely more, as Palm Coast locals love to join in the fun!—cruise in a majestic line. You’ll see everything from large cruisers and yachts to smaller kayaks and canoes, all decked out in holiday lights that reflect beautifully on the water under a full moon.
If you’d like to watch, thousands of people line the Intracoastal Waterway for the best views, often bringing chairs and picnic baskets with them to create a party atmosphere. Some of the best spots are along the St. Joe Walkway and Waterfront Park, or catch the boats as they pass under the Hammock Dunes Toll Bridge. The boats follow a scenic path, beginning at Cochise Waterway and heading south along the Intracoastal, turning around at the Grand Haven Gazebo before making their way back.
The Palm Coast Holiday Boat Parade is a special event for both locals and visitors alike, and it’s made even easier with free shuttle service provided by Flagler County buses from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Pickups are available at the Palm Coast Community Center and Daytona State College’s campus, taking you straight to the European Village, a popular viewing location. You can also park at Waterfront Park.
And if this boat parade leaves you in the holiday spirit for more, check out other nearby lighted boat parades like the St. Augustine Regatta of Lights or the Daytona Beach Christmas Boat Parade. Grab a blanket and some hot cocoa, and get ready for a night of lights and Christmas cheer during your holiday getaway to Flagler Beach.
