A Sweet Escape to the Palm Coast Strawberry Festival
When you think of strawberries, you might picture summer picnics and backyard gardens. But here in Florida, strawberry season peaks in the winter! That’s right—our mild winter weather creates the perfect conditions for these juicy gems, and February is the prime time to savor them. For a true taste of Florida, head to the Palm Coast Strawberry Festival on February 15–16, 2025, at its new home, the Florida Agricultural Center.
A Berry Good Time
The moment you step into the festival, you’re greeted by the vibrant red glow of Plant City strawberries—fresh by the flat and practically begging to be taken home. And if that doesn’t have you craving something sweet, the options inside certainly will. Indulge in strawberry shortcake, fudge, lemonade, pie, and even a strawberry wine slush mix. If you’ve never had a strawberry wine slush, it’s like summer in a cup—a perfect treat as you stroll through the festivities.
Florida might be famous for its citrus, but we’re also the second-largest strawberry producer in the U.S., growing over 13,000 acres of berries, according to the Florida Strawberry Growers Association. Strawberry season in Florida typically begins in November and extends through April, with the peak times being December to February. Plant City, known as the “Winter Strawberry Capital of the World,” supplies the festival’s fresh produce, making this event a showcase of Florida’s finest.
Beyond the Berries
While strawberries are the star of the show, there’s plenty more to enjoy. Sample craft beer and wine, grab a bite from a food truck, peruse arts and crafts, and watch live music performances throughout the day. Feeling adventurous? Try axe throwing or take a monster truck ride—why not? For a fun twist, check out the world-famous Disc-Connected K9s performing their Frisbee dog show at noon, 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. If you’re up for a challenge, the strawberry pie-eating contest is a must-see, even if you’re just cheering on the brave souls diving face-first into deliciousness.
Admission is just $7 (cash only) at the gate, and you can save a little by bringing a canned good for the Grace Community Food Pantry. A portion of the proceeds supports the Boys & Girls Clubs of Volusia/Flagler Counties, so your fun day out helps a great cause.
A Taste of Old Florida
The festival’s new location at the Florida Agricultural Center, formerly the Florida Agricultural Museum, adds a unique charm to the event. While you’re there, take a moment to explore the museum grounds, where you can step back in time with guided tours of Old Florida history. The Country Market, held monthly, is another reason to plan a return visit.
If you’re staying with us at the Beach Front Motel in Flagler Beach, you’re just a short drive away from the festival. Start your day with a sunrise stroll along the beach, and then head over to Palm Coast for a berry-filled afternoon. Afterward, wind down back at the coast, where the sound of the waves pairs perfectly with a box of fresh, sweet strawberries.
This February, don’t miss the sweetest event of the season. The Palm Coast Strawberry Festival is a celebration of Florida’s agricultural bounty, a chance to indulge in delicious treats, and a delightful way to make the most of our beautiful winter days.
